A Taste of Home: Shiyama and Shakeel's Culinary Journey

If you've ever visited Luau, you're likely familiar with the friendly faces of Shiyama and Shakeel. These two talented individuals, parents of Ahblo and Otto, have become beloved members of the Luau community.

With a combined wealth of experience in the corporate world and business ownership, Shiyama and Shakeel are passionate about food. Shakeel's love for fishing, passed on to his sons, complements their culinary pursuits. Their feasts are legendary among family and friends, known for their delectable chicken, curries, and other innovative dishes. They have a knack for elevating local cuisine with their unique twists.

Inspired by their heritage, it was only natural for Shiyama and Shakeel to introduce the cherished Maldivian tradition of "Haveeru Sai" to Luau Cafe. This evening tea ritual offers a delightful array of savory and sweet treats, showcasing the best of Maldivian cuisine. From crispy tuna cutlets to rich coconut-based desserts, every bite is a journey through the flavors of the Maldives.

Shiyama and Shakeel's expertise in preparing "Hedhikaa," the bite-sized treats served during Haveeru Sai, has become a highlight of the cafe. They have generously shared their knowledge with the culinary team, ensuring that guests can savor these authentic Maldivian snacks.

Beyond Maldivian delicacies, Luau Cafe offers a diverse menu, including sandwiches, burgers, cakes, pastries, and specialty coffee. Our two experienced pastry chefs, with over 15 years of combined experience, craft delectable sandwiches and pastries that complement the cafe's offerings.

We invite you to experience the warmth and flavor of Luau Cafe, where the culinary artistry of Shiyama and Shakeel, along with our talented pastry chefs and friendly staff, awaits.
